What's the most delicious thing you've ever tasted?

Posted on Aug 26th, 2007 by Goddess2day : Poet, Philosopher, Writer, Wannabe. Goddess2day
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 26, 2007:

It still amazes me.  My mom gave me some when I was five.  The taste of it lingers even now on my tongue.  I can never forget the thrill of eating it.  And I know that they should have call it the forbidden fruit even though it isn't a fruit.  Poor Eve, never to have had a taste of something that contain all the sweetness of the world and yet to be blamed for all eternity for eating some tasteless apple.

And do you know what that tasty morsel was that aroused my tastebud unlike any other?   Ta da!  It was a root.  And it came from the coconut.  Come on people, I could do with a drum roll here....yes, that's it...

So if you ever chance upon a coconut tree, look around you and find that one coconut that's about to take root.  If you are able to split it open, you will find a yellow, melt-in-your-mouth slice of heaven...Too bad I didn't know where it came from back then or else there would be no new coconut trees in the entire Carribbean....lol...I was such a moron....and hey...that was a blessed thing...trust me...

I swear to you, I can almost taste it….you do such a passionate job of describing it!

Thanks!

One of my best taste memories was from the Carribean as well, though not the direct treasure straight from nature that you were fortunate enough to have experienced. I don't even remember what it was called, but the texture of it was like gelato. My grandmother bought it for me on a small street in Havana. It was almost fifty years before I ever tasted anything like it, a combination of frozen fruits put through a Champion blender. It took me right back to Cuba! Amazing.

Yummy…I have had the pleasure of partaking in it!
Being from the Caribbean ;-)
I am quite partial, though, to the coconut jelly ;-) Yum, yum, yum!

LOL…I know what you mean…people go hunting for the sprouted coconuts…it's a wonder that any grow into new trees!

Hello there P.M.  Thanks for stopping by and also for  your lovely comment….and that's a great taste…yes…sweeter than all the coconut roots of the world….
Hmm…That Carribean flavor you speak about…I think it's called Blamange…but I could be wrong….and if it is…then it's absolutely delicious…..

;-) Surely you were taught to eat it, as I was???
Or did you just decide to eat it on your own? In that case, my dear, you ARE my Columbus, LOL ;-)

Oh…and the young coconut itself is entirely edible, one crunchy yummy delicious gift!!!!

Lol. Hey…you got me there…which means that I have no Columbus veins when it comes to food adventure because my mother was the one who introduced me to this tropical ambrosia …and even then I took it hesitantly…

Mmm….now you are my Columbus…I gotta try that delicious, crunchy young coconut…and soon…

You know what, that word, blamange, it's verrrrrry familiar.

And this whole coconut thing, with which I am totaly unfamiliar, is absolutely intriguing.

Is the jelly something that is made from the coconut or is it, like the yellow slice-of-heaven, a naturally occurring edible?

LOL…ahhh the wonders of the natural world are endless ;-)

The young coconut would be that first bud (a big one…it IS a Big Seed)…it's all light green and eats like an apple, but the most incredible juicy coconuttey goodness, LOL…

And the Jelly is a naturally occurring part of the green coconut ;-)
It's the lining of the inside of it, has a kind of firmer flan-like texture, and very slippery ;-)
